Look past the adjectives. These seven things are what actually differ between salons — and you can check every one before you sit down.
Ask whether gel and dip are soaked off or pried and peeled. Prying is what thins the nail plate, and it is the most common reason nails feel weak after a few sets.
Files and buffers are porous and cannot be disinfected; they should be new for you. Metal implements should be cleaned, disinfected and sealed, and pedicure spas disinfected between every guest.
Most menus show starting prices. Length, shape changes, repairs, removals and design work are usually extra — the question is whether you hear the full total before the work begins or after.
Enhancements are not indestructible. Ask what the salon does when something chips, lifts or breaks a few days later, and whether you have to argue for it.
A lot of Lakeland salons close on Sunday or Monday. Check the hours for the day you actually have, and whether walk-ins are taken or it is appointment-only.
Look for photos of sets that actually left that salon, ideally recent and varied: French, chrome, 3D art, short natural sets as well as long ones. Bring a reference photo; a good technician will tell you what is achievable on your nail bed before starting.
Star counts are a start. Read for the specifics — do people mention clean tools, being quoted before the work, and the same technician by name visit after visit?
