Every acrylic set on the menu has the same liquid-and-powder structure; what changes is the finish. A Basic set is finished in regular lacquer. A Gel set is finished in cured gel color, so the color lasts as long as the structure. Color Powder builds the shade into the powder itself for a thicker, more resilient finish than polish alone. Ombré blends two shades by hand into a gradient up the nail, and Pink & White is a French sculpted in two powders — pink bed, white tip — so it grows out without an obvious line.

What happens in the chair
Consultation and shape
You and your technician settle on length, shape and finish before anything starts. Inspiration photos are welcome; they depend on your own nail bed and length, so your tech will tell you what is achievable. Your full total is confirmed before work begins.
Prep
Any old product is soaked off rather than pried, then the natural nail is shaped, the cuticle area tidied and the surface lightly buffed and cleansed so the acrylic bonds properly. Files and buffers are single-use; metal implements are cleaned, disinfected and sealed between guests.
Tip or form
For length, a tip is glued to the free edge and trimmed, or a form is fitted under the nail so the acrylic can be sculpted over it. A fill skips this step and works on the regrowth gap only.
Sculpting
Beads of liquid and powder are placed and pressed into shape with a brush — thicker over the stress point where the nail is most likely to bend, thin at the cuticle so the set wears in smoothly. Acrylic sets in the air within minutes, so there is no lamp at this stage. Expect a noticeable monomer smell while it is being applied; it fades once the set hardens.
Filing and refining
Once hard, the set is filed to its final shape and thickness, then buffed smooth. This is where the outline is made even across all ten nails.
Finish
Regular lacquer is applied and air-dried, or gel color is painted and cured under the lamp. Color Powder, Ombré and Pink & White already carry their color in the powder, so they are sealed with a top coat. A little cuticle oil usually finishes the set.
How long it lasts
An acrylic set typically wears three to four weeks before the regrowth gap at the cuticle becomes noticeable and the balance of the nail shifts toward the tip. Most sets need a fill every two to three weeks: the lifted or grown-out area near the cuticle is filed back and new acrylic is blended into the existing set, so you are maintaining the same nails rather than starting again. A Basic fill is from $40, a Gel fill from $45, Color Powder from $45 and Ombré from $50.
When you want them off, removal is soaked off rather than pried, which is what protects the nail plate. A soak-off is $5 with another service or from $10 on its own. Enhancements are not indestructible — if something chips, lifts or breaks within 7 days, come back and it is repaired at no charge. Otherwise a single nail repair is from $5.
Looking after it
- Avoid long soaks in hot water for the first day; heat and moisture can soften the bond while it is settling.
- Use cuticle oil daily — it keeps the skin around the set supple and helps stop the edges drying out and lifting.
- Do not use your nails as tools; prying, picking and levering are how acrylics crack and lift.
- Wear gloves for washing up and cleaning; detergents and long stretches of wet work can loosen the bond.
- If a nail lifts, do not peel it or glue it yourself. Book a repair — within 7 days it is free.
- Keep to a fill every two to three weeks; a set left too long becomes top-heavy and more likely to snap.

Do acrylic nails damage your natural nails?
The damage usually blamed on acrylic comes from removal — prying, peeling or aggressive drilling thins the nail plate. Acrylic that is applied over a lightly prepped nail and soaked off at the end generally leaves the nail in good condition, though it may feel thin for a while simply because it has been covered. Can I get enhancements on my toes?
Yes. A toe full set is from $45 in regular lacquer or from $50 in gel, sculpted to roughly two inches. Toe repairs are from $5, toe fills from $6 and a toe French from $10.
